One Great Hour of Sharing is the refugee, relief and development offering of the United Church of Christ that transforms lives through health, education, agricultural, and emergency relief initiatives in 138 countries.
Thanksgiving Recipient: A Just Harvest
Their mission is to fight poverty and hunger in the Rogers Park and greater Chicago community by providing nutritious meals daily while cultivating community and economic development and organizing across racial, cultural and socio-economic lines in order to create a more just society. Twelve times per year NCC provides, prepares, and delivers the entrée served to hundreds of people. Also, many NCC members and friends volunteer to help in serving dinner.
Christmas Recipient: Family Promise
The mission of Family Promise is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence.

Casa Central Christmas Collection
Casa Central is a community center providing meals for all ages, housing for families, education enrichment, health care, senior care and senior home care, adult wellness center, child day care, employment training.
Heifer Projects help families with gifts of livestock ("Living Loans") and training to help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways. Passing animal offspring on as a gift to another family creates an ever-expanding network of hope and peace.
Night Ministry Collection
For 35 years The Night Ministry has been committed to providing health, housing, and support services to some of Chicago’s most vulnerable and underserved adult and youth populations in the Lakeview, Rogers Park and West Town areas of Chicago. Services of the Youth Outreach Team and Youth Services Programs provided to homeless and at-risk youth on the streets include: survival supplies, referrals to safe shelter with warm meals, supportive counseling to assist in their return to school, and access to medical care. This ministry turns donations into life-changing help for homeless adults and youth, the working poor, the disabled and the ill – anyone who has fallen through the cracks.
Glenbrook CROP Hunger Walk
CROP is a community arm of Church World Service. CWS receives 75% of proceeds and the Northfield Township Food Pantry receives 25%.

UCAN Christmas Collection
Uhlich Children's Advantage Network is a social service organization which works with 12,000 children, youth and families in Illinois each year. The primary clients are wards of the state child welfare system, children and youth who have been removed from their hoes for reasons of abuse or neglect. Families are also assisted. UCAN offers a full continuum of services including, among others, a therapeutic youth home, a therapeutic day school, extensive community and violence prevention programs, support for pregnant and parenting teens, counseling, foster care placement, vocational training, and internships for promising former wards of the state.
